Opening Secure DjVu Files

DjVu documents may be encrypted by their creators so that only people with a password can view them. These files are called secure DjVu files. When you attempt to view a secure DjVu file you are prompted for a user ID and password by the Password dialog, as shown below.

Depending on the access rights that have been assigned to you by the creator of the file, the Save, Save As..., Copy, Export and Print options may be disabled. If so, these options will be "grayed out" on the toolbar and menus.

File Expiration

DjVu files may be created with an expiration date, after which they become unavailable for viewing. If a DjVu file you wish to view has expired, one of three things will occur depending upon how the file was created:

NOTE: Users able to log on as Administrator can always see expired files by entering the Administrator's user ID and password.

When a document is expired, in addition to the above messages, a warning is included in the Document Information dialog as shown below.
